About this Site
Posted on 09/23/2009 at 10:08 am by MikeLTThe purpose of this blog is two-fold. First and foremost, it is to document the learning process of an aspiring WordPress developer (namely myself) as I explore the intricacies of the worlds greatest Web 2.0 blogging platform.
Along the way, through the use of Twitter and other social networking sites, I hope to make new friends in the developer community, both novice and accomplished, that are interested in joining a host of discussions on building themes, widgets and plugins, incorporating Ajax and Jscript into WordPress, and ultimately becoming the best PHP coder ever!
About my Self
My name is Michael, and I have been building websites since 2004. I can’t help myself. I have well over a dozen websites and probably just as many WordPress blogs live on the web.
The problem is, an entity like a website, even more so a blog requires an awful lot of maintenance. So I decided over the years to concentrate mainly on the sites that were the most important or, better said, lucrative. As a result, I allowed many sites to become dormant, and some domains to expire. I guess I like better to create than to maintain. Kinda like my love life :>(
Any way, being the geek that I am, I want to adopt the mindset of a coder, if that can be done. Most of my websites except for the very early ones were done in PHP, so it’s not like it’s totally strange, it’s just the deeper I delve into it, the more confusing it gets!
So it’s time to break the barrier! I resume my quest of dissecting the WordPress platform with renewed vigor, to discover the dark secrets of PHP and MySQL, the interactions of JavaScript, Ajax, CSS and xhtml, even the elusive graphic artistry, in a valiant effort to once again become brilliant beyond my years.
And oh yea, since this is a blog, tell me when I’m wrong or right, point me in the right direction, help me figure it out, and we’ll all come out of this brilliantly!
